After the first few fleeting days of college, brightened by my smug I-already-know-my-way-around-the-corridors feeling, I can safely say I'm ready to sleep..forever! Okay, maybe just a few days.. hours? As expected I'm already drowning in homework, found a mini-me from the year below and come to the realisation that my frees are for doing work, not people watching whilst supping a coffee. Though one thing that has been plaguing me is the distinct lack of wintry weather! Anyone who lives in Britain knows that usually, September brings it's best friend, rain. So far, nothing..it's just sun, taunting sun all the time. Hopefully the time will come for the unveiling of coats and warm boots.

In the mean time I think I may just daydream about a makeover of my mini-me a la Clueless, no? Oh, and admire the patterns and whimsical looks of Iekeleine Strange (did i just say WHIMSICAL? okay, enough now.)

So this week so far, college has well and truly started, and i must say, i'm rather glad. It's brilliant to see everybody everyday and getting back into studies is strangely refreshing. Anyways, I shant bore you with general school stuff, hope you're having a wonderful start to September.

a few more days and then it's back to the world of academia. oh joy.

i really want to finally get round to doing all the small things i've been wanting to do for so long, but never really have. i want to grow all kind of vegetable and flower plants, all from tiny seeds. i want to finally buy a pair of those brilliant binoculars that allow you to see the moon and stars ever so clearly. and i really really want to become excellent at cooking! i've recently grown to love it, i find it rather soothing; which is completely the oppposite of what i used to find it - hell, that is. i want to get to the stage where you dont have to measure things, and from instinct you know how much herbs or how much flour to put in, or be able to make a dish which is just utterly gorgeous from the little ingredients you have in your fridge! ahhh i feel so excited to learn something new.

anyway, hope you're all enjoying the last week of summer.

finally. a productive day has emerged from the seemingly endless days filled with nothing but what can only be described as utter laziness. started reading mao's biography today, which to be fair, isn't half bad. not the most riveting read lets be honest. but nonetheless not bad, not baddd. thinking i maybe should've started earlier considering i have about abother 36219 books to read on china.

oh well, its been brilliant not to have to worry about work. literally brilliant.

but all good things must eventually come to an end. the aforementioned 'brilliance' most certainley has. a huge feeling of what can only be described as horror has more than happily taken its place. results in less than a week, oh jeeeesus; a pretty damn lenghty dissertation on china has to be completed, the list really is endless. oh dear lord why oh why must the summer holidays be so stressful.

if you read this - then i'm sorry for my mini realisation that i'm slowly becoming a failure. hope the calming photos make up. also foals' new album is making the stress subside a little i guess - spanish sahara <3

To be honest, i don't think you can go wrong with relaxed 90's styling, laid back locks and a bit of black and white photography to boot. I for one, am very appreciative of this since the weather in Britain is especially dire this week, disappointingly dull and drab. All i want to do is wrap up in plaid shirts and comfortable jeans, topped off with a pair of trusty converse (very foot friendly guys!) "natural" hair i.e. a great excuses to let the ghd's sit in the corner for a while and gather dust, plus i think it looks rather cool in that grunge nonchalant way, non?

Kulture 101: The Dreamers

Finally exams are over, and it was with great ease that i settled back into alternating cups of tea with afternoon naps. (yes, that's right, i'm actually an old woman).

I did however, manage to see "The Dreamers". Which, based on the book "the holy innocents" and directed by Bernardo Bertolucci, narrates the formation of what is essentially a cinephillic ménage a trois. Although explicit (definitely cringe-worthy when accompanied by parents) the cinematography, fashion and overall KULTURE is something to be appreciated.

Hollywood classics are referenced feverently, black and white scenes cut & pasted throughout and name dropping general cool-cats such as Bob Dylan, this film is pretty flyyy (bordering on pretentious). The outfits, particularly those worn by Theo and Isabelle are rife with parisien chic, it's set in paris, i did mention that right? see above for red berets and polo-necks-with-blazers, enough to make the trendies quake in their topshop clogs. Although the plot fizzles out towards a very abrubt (and slightly disorientating) ending, The Dreamers, set against the student riots in '68 is a well dressed, film buff's paradise and worth a gander.

In a continuous mood of general happiness at the moment which is just a brilliant feeling.
Only thing that is starting to let the slight unhappiness have a chance of taking over is Maths revision, knowing you've got a Maths exam in a matter of days is a pretty darn good way of making you feel pooey!
However, smiling, thinking happyhappyhappy thoughts and surrounding yourself with people that make you laugh all day long is just the perfect solution to the ever draining Maths.
Sounds ridiculously cheesy, and oh so typical annoying "how to be happy" bull, but i'm finding it works!

Currently listening to the New York unplugged acoustic set that Nirvana did around '93. Also, kind of transfixed on the deer in the second photograph, i do love deer. I've also gone and got myself some new tortoise shell ray ban glasses, i really love getting new glasses. When you put them on after months of blurry vision (and those moments when you think you see your friend, wave and no, its not your friend, and you die inside a little bit) you feel like you see the world in a whole new way. Okay, so just a clearer way, but honestly , its actually euphoric!

No, i'm not referencing some kind of ultra-hip new leg accessorie likely to be sported by an Olsenbot (though in the near future maybe?). I am in fact, referring to the ethereal new images released by Nasa of our beautiful Sun! Galaxy print, meet your successor. Okay, okay..so some of you may be wondering why the sun is actually blue in this image, what the clever folks at Nasa have done is created false colours to determine different heats. Red is for cool, blue and green are for hot. You can actually see a Sun flare in the top left, an eruption from the Sun that stretches around 500,000 miles. So.. this is pretty amazing no??

First day back at college...and it was brilliant! Our college is pretty damn amazing right now, we have a Costa inside and this huge television screen in the student lounge which makes you feel like you're at the airport! Had a brilliant day today! Went to Avenham park to do some egg rolling which was very funny and extremely scary, ducking every two minutes as you have easter eggs flying absolutley everywhere! Then we found a really cool gazebo where we played some very competitive chinese snap, which proved to be hilarious as there were only 3 people who knew what they were doing out of the 15 that were playing :') It was a wonderful day. Feeling a bit odd at the moment. Today was just a really nice day. Really nice. And for some odd reason i'm just feeling really low, kinda sucks..

It's officially the first day of the Easter holidays all is gooood :) It's about time, it started getting to that point where everything seemed so tiring and irritating so a 2 week break is the perfect solution.

Some really nice things happened this weekend, firstly on Saturday me and my sister had to cook (i rarely step into the kitchen for good reason). My sister is a rather good cook, me..well..lets not talk about me, i can just about make tea and toast! But we decided on making something easy, home made pizza. It was actually really humorous! We thought it would be 'fun' to put different ingredients onto one them, things that absolutley, most definitley do not go any where near things even slightly like pizzas, like jelly beans and blueberries...even..oh god..chocolate. Really gross, but hilarious.

It was also save earth hour, so all lights were out, no television or pc, we thought we would make a night of it so we made some really nice hot chocolate, with whippy cream, we bought especially, and put out the candles and some really yummy fruit :) It was loooovely. So that's my weekend. You guys been up to much?

So it's Wednesday morning and all is good. I thought i'd post a picture which just made me feel lovely! Had a really great weekend, Saturday went into a coffee house to meet up with friends, one which i hadn't properly seen in ages! It was so refreshing just to talk, sit and relax and genuinely have a wonderful time just laughing, without having to worry about work or silly things like that! Spent 3 and half hours there! Woke up early to a something which has been pretty much non-existent in the lives of Prestonians for the last 6 months! Sheila Marquez. Owner of the Chloe boots that are recurring theme in her streetstyle snaps. Contrast to my first belief that the boots in question hold some kind of all-knowing power *strokes chin* muahaha. Okay, maybe not. One thing this image has succeeded to do although, is make me fall in love with her pants. Yes, her pants! Probably the most covetable shade of beige of any of the many tailored leg accessories i've seen. Plus the cut is adorable, the length perfect. It seems Miss Marquez is an undeniably chic underdog to the present streetstyle icon which is, of course, Abbey Lee.

Courtney Love has recently released pictures of Kurt Cobain, she said that this was her favourite photograph of him. I have to agree, it's beautiful. I have recently been learning some of the songs played by Nirvana at an acoustic gig they did in '93 or '94 in New York, on guitar that is. If you have time to check them out, then do.
